Thank you for your support! Start A Program At Your SchoolWe are excited to have signed up our first school, Highland Park Elementary, and are currently gearing up for starting Residencies in 5th grade classrooms as early as January 2011. What is a Dancing Classrooms Residency? Dancing Classrooms uses a curriculum-based teaching approach to achieve social awareness and build self-esteem. Students are taught the vocabulary of various contemporary social dances in a sequential manner by a professional Teaching Artist who utilizes the Dulaine Method, a teaching methodology that emphasizes respect and compassion. The program is a 10 week residency, with classes twice a week, that is integrated within the school curriculum, culminating in a showcase where every child performs.
Contact Jacqueline Stevenson to see if a Dancing Classrooms Residency is right for your school. Instructor OpportunitesTeaching Artists are the lifeblood of our program, our most valuable asset. To ensure unity of purpose and intention, we train all prospective teachers extensively in classroom management skills and curricular integration, as well as ballroom training in our step syllabus. We are currently auditioning male teaching artists for our program. We will require all Teaching Artists to be available during school hours 4 days per week during the teaching year. Extensive ballroom experience is not a prerequisite. We are seeking Teaching Artists who have: • The belief that every child can learn and excel, regardless of his/her shape, size, family situation, or ethnic background • A passion for dance and creative expression that is easily communicated to, and contagious among, children • Self confidence in his/her dance and artistic abilities • High expectations for what every child can achieve through the program • An ability to express him/herself verbally in such a way that deserves attention • An understanding of children’s classroom dynamics and how to manage behavior • Flexibility and a good sense of humor If you wish to apply as a Teaching Artist, please create a user profile on our website including a photo.
